ARRIVING ON TIME
Here are some information that will help you get the most out of your safari.
Firstly, there are some items which will critically affect the enjoyment of your safari, we have listed below. DO NOT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THESE ITEMS.
The most practical items to pack are;
1. Longsleeves, trousers and closed shoes, very important for hiking and nature walks.
2. Light, compact raincoat is a good idea for summer.
3. Light clothing is preferable during the day especially during the summer months: eg. T-shirts and shorts.
4. Fleece or sweater and a warm jacket due to colder nights during winter season.
5. Comfortable walking shoes i.e sandals.
6. Natural clothing: to prevent any undue attention from wild animals.
7.Sun block, lip balm, sunglasses, hat, swimsuit.
8. Still camera, video camera and binoculars.
9.South African plug adapter, chargers.

A mobile safari is not just about seeing the wildlife, it is hearing the crickets at night, smelling that elephant wandering through camp, feeling the sand between your toes and tasting great food made with fire alone!
TYPES OF SAFARIS
Game Scanners Tours and Safaris offers a great variety of types and styles of safari.
The country has a high-cost, low- impact tourism policy and this results in a limited number of available beds, especially in the wilderness areas. The policy seeks to reduce the human footprint on the sensetive ecology of the kalahari sands as well as to provide you, the travelle, with an unspoilt and private experience.
LUXURY LODGES
There is a large selection of beatifully appointed luxury lodges from which to base yourself. These high-end lodges offer exclusivity, usually in private concessions, with world class service, stunning architecture and mouth- watering cuisine. We book a stay at these lodges to do and travel with our clients sometime having our planned activities done accordingly by our company.
MOBILE CAMPING SAFARIS
With a more classic feel, mobiles involve travelling through a variety of destinations whiles the camp moves with you. Most nights are spent in private campsites in Game reserves and national parks. Having a single or 2-3 tour guides for the whole safari can be hugely rewarding and flexible nature of these trips is excellent for photography. Options vary from luxury and mid-range to participation safaris and they can last from a few days to 3 weeks or more.
INDEPENDENT/SELF-DRIVE SAFARIS
For the more intrepid, travelling independently or self-driving allows Game Scanners Tours and Safaris to conduct your safari at your own pace. It is very important that you have knowledge of the bush coupled with both 4×4 driving experience. We accompany self-drives to avoid break downs, getting lost or stuck could easily wreck their trip, especially in remote areas. The responsibility to excercise respect and sensitivity towards the environment, so please adhere to the rules of the park at all times.
CHILDREN ON SAFARI
Children are most welcome of safari and are the key to protecting the future of the world's natural heritage. Each company has varying policies so it is worth checking in advance with your operator which activities they can and cannot do. Whilst you are on safari, never forget that you are in a wild environment.
FOOD ON SAFARI
The safari industry has high food standards and the hospitality staff are well-trained. At Game Scanners Tours and Safaris we cater for any dietary requirements given advanced notice, so notify your operator prior to travel.
Our guides have an affinity and respect for nature that is infections. Mobiles provide an intimacy with nature, experiencing the wilderness with all the series and no fences!
A mobile safari visits different areas but keeps the same guide, crew and companions, bonding for the whole safari for that authentic wilderness experience up close and personal!
VISA AND PASSPORT
Valid visa(s) for Botswana and the countries the safari tour will be taking you to, Passport should be atleast 3 months valid before date of expiry and atleast enough pages for immigration stamps.
PREVENTATILE PHARMACEUTICALS, MEDICATION
Malaria medication, Mosquito (insect)repellents, Sunscreen lotions, Sore throat( lozenges), Prescription needs.

Our 8 days/ 7 nights with Game Scanners Tours and Safaris, started in Maun International Airport pick up, indeed we experienced much than we expected having our best local guide for the whole trip Pixly. At first we thought of booking with a lodge but finally we made our try decision with this mobile camping safari, believe me i will never forget Botswana tourism never, we did it through Central kalahari game reserve, Lekhubu island, Makgadikgadi pans, Nxai pan, Okavango delta(mokoro), Moremi and Khwai concession. We are planning our second coming again same company for Chobe and Victoria falls.....i recommend them fully they are the best ever.

We were a family of 2 adults, 2 sons and 1 daughter....we booked for 2 nights in the Okavango delta (mokoro) and 2 nights camping in Khwai, to be honest with this company we had a nice time in all areas we visited. Safari trip that exceeded all expectations!
My partner and i recently returned from a private safari trip in Botswana(June 2026) organised by Game Scanners Tours and Safaris, and it exceeded all our expectations. We wanted to truly immerse ourselves in the wildlife, so we chose for a private tented camping safari to have ultimate freedom and flexibility. Our guide ,Pixly, was absolutely top-notch! Thanks to his tracking skills and knowledge, we saw every single animal we wanted to see and from amazingly close range. We saw lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, leopards, water buffaloes, cheetahs, zebras, wild dogs, hyenas, impalas, warthogs, and breathtaking variety of birds. Pixly had a perfect sense of timing, he knew exactly when to share insights and when to just let us enjoy the safari experience in silence. The camping side of things was incredibly well-organised and surprisingly luxurious. We were supported by a fantastic camp team who took care us from start to finish. It was amazing what delicious meals they managed to create for us in the middle of the savanna! To get full Botswana experience we explored the landscape by land, water and air: Game drives for that was classic, close-up wildlife viewing, mokoro trip for a relaxing perspective from the water, a helicopter flight for amazing view of the Okavango Delta view from above. We concluded our safari trip with a visit to the Victoria falls in Zimbabwe, the perfect ending. A huge thank you to Pixly and the entire team. From the initial planning to the fina day, they were incredibly helpful, perfectly organised, and made sure our entire journey was completely carefree. This was truly an unforgettable trip.....We cannot recommend "Game Scanners Tours and Safaris" highly enough. Thank you very much for everything, Pixly & team!

Exceptional trip. Thanks to Albert, we have seen countless animals and places of exceptional beauty. The three-day safari was organised very well. The camp in the Savanna, with a private tent for the two of us, was very comfortable. Exceptional meals, cooked directly over the fire and very well- prepared. We can only recommend it fully!

This was a wonderful 17 day safari experience for us, both having been going on safari since the early nineties! The camp team were really great, friendly and supportive, with Pixly, our guide, very experienced. He went out of his way for our photography, even driving twice in the early hours to get us to a wild dog den by day break to photographthe 14 pups as the adults returned after a morning kill. The camps were beautiful, the food(by Thomas) our chef very good. Chris and Roggers provided the wine and hot showers! Whether it's your first time on safari or you're an old hand, this team will go all out to make you proud of Botswana and it's wildlife. We travelled from Maun through Kaziikini,Moremi, Khwai,Savuti,to Chobe riverfront and Kasane. Organised and booked directly with Mary of Game Scanners Tours and Safaris.
